Impacting Policy
The ACWC helped pass the Day Labor Temporary Services Act which protects Illinois day laborers, and recently protected the attempted weakening of the Act by temp agencies in Springfield. Along with coalition partners, ACWC influenced the framing of Senator Barack Obama’s position on immigration reform and gained Rep. Jan Schakowsky’s commitment to raise awareness about the abuses of immigrant detainees. ACWC is currently embarking on a national campaign to improve the Department of Labor.
